Writing is the joy of expression, the joy of connection! Many people find writing a better way to express themselves than speaking. As a writer, your blog is your world, and you can play God with it! You have your own story-line. You decide what happens and what direction you choose. Just like what I am doing right now! I am expressing myself, sharing my love for writing and most importantly I am venting my thoughts.
In my previous blog (Don’t hide your creativity, rejoice in it! – Part 1), I have already discussed how SEO writing has restrained our creative skills. I’ve covered that writers should not limit their imagination and follow a writing style that connects with their readers. Here in this write-up, I’ll discuss the things that are stopping your blog from hitting the right spots on your reader’s minds and how you can overcome it.
When you begin to write with all the zest and passion, you are often doing it in response to an idea that follows you around and won’t let you go. So you set out to write a book, maybe another and then another. It’s fun to do something you love. Perhaps it also gives your life a meaning; a sense of quest and exhilaration.
Here are some writing secrets that can help you transform your dull SEO write-up into an interesting piece, keeping your creativity intact.
Read like it’s your job!
Nearly all of us plunge into writing because we are passionate, devoted readers. Get that back! Read every day. Keep a list of writers, essayists, poets who awaken your own voice. It’s not about finishing a book. You should read — to learn new words, glean new ideas and fall in love with writing again.
Pool in your ideas!
One thing that writers must remember is that ideas are everywhere and can come to you at any moment. You just need to be on a constant lookout for them. While brain-storming during writing is good, gathering ideas can further boost your functionality and help you become a better writer.
Add a short segment to your daily routine, where you will write for an hour on whatever captures your fancy. Maybe it will eventually become something, where you are just playing around with words or ideas. It’s part and parcel of a creative personality.
Use your own approach!
It is difficult to come up with a new topic every time you put your thinking caps on. So, taking inspiration from others once in a while is quite all right. Just make sure the piece that you create has your own approach. Every writer attends to a topic in his/her own style, which is unique. Once you have discovered your style, you must hone it alongside.
Not always write for public consumption!
When you’re always writing for others, the chances are you may lose the deliciousness of writing. Putting on business clothes every day is not good. Sometimes you just want to relax in yoga pants. Writing is fun, and so you should sometimes write for yourself; otherwise, you may lose your creative flavor.
